Darin joined Moderna in 2019 as the Head of Immunology in the Infectious Disease Research Group. During his time at Moderna, Darin has led many efforts to develop novel vaccines using Moderna’s mRNA platform as well as the research efforts to further develop the mRNA platform and to understand key mechanisms of action, efforts which continue today. Upon the emergence of SARS-CoV-2, Darin led the research on Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine and continues to lead the research on new variant and next-generation COVID-19 vaccines. As the Program Lead for COVID vaccines, Darin continues to further develop new variant COVID vaccines as well as to optimize mRNA vaccines for future use, both for endemic pathogens as well as those with pandemic potential.
