Frederick Quinn is a Professor in the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia. He oversaw several laboratory groups at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention investigating bacterial disease outbreaks including meningococcal meningitis, Buruli ulcer, and tuberculosis. Current research focuses on pathogenesis and transmission of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and M. bovis in various host species for developing improved vaccines and diagnostic tests for human and animal tuberculosis prevention. Collaborative tuberculosis projects include: novel vaccine animal efficacy testing; transmission model development in the ferret and other models; human and animal subclinical infection studies; and zoonotic/reverse zoonotic transmission studies.
